SYNOPSIS

Czechoslovakia. 1942. An old radio plays classical music while two men clean in the background. Alexi and his partner Dimitri are enjoying a nice evening together in spite of these desperate times. Alexi pulls Dimitri into a waltz against the backdrop of their shoddy apartment. Suddenly, a quick knock hits the door. Panic sets in as the men quickly rush around the room covering anything that might lead to Dimitri’s discovery. After sharing a final moment of intimacy, the studious Dimitri hides in a small hole hidden within the armoire. Alexi answers the door and is shocked to find Yeva, an old friend and colleague, standing there. She pushes her way inside. She came with a goal in mind and, as part of the resistance, failure is not an option. Dimitri returns to the room as Yeva presents her mission to the couple. The resistance has orchestrated assassination plans for a high-ranking Nazi general, to end his tyranny and show the world that their people are still willing to fight. Alexi is reluctant to participate knowing that involving himself will endanger all that he loves. Yeva gives Alexi a bomb and leaves to avoid suspicion. Alexi and Dimitri are left to come to terms with what he must do. Dimitri insists that Alexi must accept the mission, for the pride of Czechoslovakia. Alexi somberly accepts his fate with one final embrace.

Alexi (33, Male):

Alexi is an ex-military man who was forced to retire from military service after his country was occupied. Despite the military’s dissolution, Alexi continued to serve the state by joining the exiled government’s resistance army. But as the realities of the occupation worsened, Alexi, fearful of endangering his partner Dimitri, abandoned his duty.
More than a year has passed and Alexi’s life is much simpler. Working a simple factory job, Alexi and Dimitri are able to live discretely in their modest apartment, thankful for what they have, despite the atrocities outside their door.

Yeva (27, Female)

Yeva is a strong young woman and a clever member of the Czechosolvikain resistance. It was formed initially by former army members but lately has been dwindling as the occupying forces have cracked down on the city. Yeva was never a member of the armed forces but her husband was. She loved him dearly but he was captured in the early days of the occupation and nobody has seen or heard from him since. This would break most people but Yeva endures not being one to sit around while others do the work; she took action and has been a key member of the resistance ever since. Lately she has been working on an operation with two operatives from the exiled Czeh government codenamed Anthropoid.

Dimitri (30, Male):

Dimitri has always been an academic type with a big heart but his spirits have been down after his beloved country was taken. He wants to be a professor one day but for now had to accept a teaching job to earn a living. He is a quiet and simple man who benefits from going mostly unnoticed, especially now that he lives with his love Alexi. He is clever and knows just by living together they are risking a lot which is why he created several escape plans. He loves Alexi a lot but he also loves his country and understands that no matter what their time together is limited. If they were ever found out they would be killed but standing by while others die around them might just be worse for his conscience.
